Timber Slave is a functional steam box system made from formply, timber, aluminium, pinkysil and plumbing components. The machine is used to soften timber through heat and moisture, it is an apparatus of pressure, restraint and control. The PVC rubber joiner with the metal steel clamp connects the hose of the steamer tightly together, introducing a subtle language of tension and fetishism into an otherwise utilitarian object.
The contrasting pink Pinkysil component acts to connect the hose of the steamer to the steambox, making the point of connection appear intimate. The plug enters the pink opening, suggesting a subtle act of penetration and attachment while remaining functional as part of the steamer.
