Library

This installation uses book covers suspended by orange nylon strings to form an inverted V-shaped structure, resembling the pitched roof of a house. By detaching from their original function, these book covers become architectural elements, exploring the relationship between objects and shelter. While a book cover protects the contents of a book, a roof offers physical protection. Bringing these two functions together creates an ambiguous space that is simultaneously familiar yet unstable.

The orange strings emphasise the act of construction, holding the work in a state of tension. The structure appears temporary and fragile, suggesting that the things we construct to provide security or meaning may also be dependent on delicate systems of support.
